Project Based Learning

Students of Grades 6 to 8 are also involved in Project based learning (PBL), which is a practice that takes a learning-by-doing approach wherein students are active participants m their own educational development. In essence. the PBL model consists of these seven characteristics:

Focuses the student on a big open-ended question, challenge, or problem to research and respond to and/or solve.

Builds students choice in the process.

Brings what students should academically know, understand, and be able to do into the equation.

Is inquiry-based.

Provides opportunities for feedback and revision of the plan and the project.

Uses 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, & creativity, among others.

Requires students to present their problems, research process, methods, and results.

The conclusions of these projects showcase the student’s ability to investigate real world issues and develop practical solutions in order to inspire change at the local.
